Costa Rica is the only country in the Western Hemisphere with a state religion. The religion is Catholicism. But that doesn’t mean they don’t need Jesus! Deeply rooted in religion, the Costa Rican people desperately need to hear about the freedom of Grace through Jesus Christ.

During one of our evengelistic outreaches in San Jose, Costa Rica, the man picture to the right was listening intently to Michael as he was sharing the Gospel with a couple of teenagers. As he was listening, Michael could tell that the man was desperate for something that he could not find. Michael noticed that the he could smell alcohol on the mans breath from 10 feet away. There was a draw to the man as the current conversation did not seem to be getting anywhere, so Michael decided to give the man some attention. Through the interpreter, Michael found out that the man had lost his family because of his addiction. Desperate to see change in his life, he asked Michael for a Bible.
However, before he gave the man a Bible, Michael layed hands on him and told the spirit of alcohol to leave his body. The smell of alcohol on the mans breath immediately left and the man sobered up. Tears of joy began to flow down the mans face as the reality of sobriety began to overwhelm him. He received healing, Jesus and a Bible that day.
Our times in Costa Rica have been filled with challenges, exciting stories of Faith and testimonies of God’s goodness and Faithfulness.
